Washing your wool clothing is easier than you thought. Whenever you see the Woolmark logo, you can rest assured that the item of clothing has gone through rigorous testing to ensure you can wash your garment with confidence, provided you follow the care instructions on the garment’s sew-in label.

Care instructions will vary depending on the style and type of garment, however The Woolmark Company uses four basic laundering options: Dry Clean Only wool; Hand Wash wool; Machine Washable wool; and Machine Wash & Tumble Dry wool.

Check the care label on your garment, and match it to one of the four videos below to find out the easiest way to dry clean wool, hand wash wool, wash wool in the washing machine or how to wash wool in your washing machine and tumble drier.

Irrespective of the method, it is recommended that garments are turned inside out for laundering. This will prolong the ‘as new’ look and feel of the garment.

To avoid colour bleeding, separate dark and light colours before laundering, and be sure to keep them separated when wet too.
